In my discussions with friends I have compared the US economy to a leaky hot air balloon. Through the years we have continually pumped more air (debt) into the balloon to keep it inflated. I believe we have reached the point where we need to fix the balloon as the amount of debt needed with all the holes is impossible to maintain. This means a whole lot of debt has to be liquidated and a whole lot of bad labor contracts will need to be renegotiated. I do not think the country is ready for that pain. In fact, the elected a liar who promised to fix the balloon by taxing the top 2%. Until the lie is acknowledged and pain accepted - we will remain on course for a financial catastrophe!
