I think there was a good argument for saving the financial industry. But the liquidation of Chrysler and GM are not going to cause the collapse of the global economy. This is the slippery slope the government started down. Obviously you are failing to appreciate the hundreds of years of trust developed by creditors that is being broken. How much will you lend as a senior secured creditor if the government can step in and pay off unsecured debt while leaving you much less?
