How are those nurses supposed to become "well trained" if they would not have physician supervision?

An experienced RN today is better trained and able to render simple medical service than Doctors were 20 years ago. And knows when to refer the patient up to someone with more knowledge.

What is going on today is a "Guild" contrived shortage of Doctors by the medical profession with the concurring restriction on practice by Nurses to keep fees up. It is going to backfire on the Doctors.
