One thing Cheney has accomplished is this. He has put Americans on notice that we did not have another attack since 9/11 on his watch, and if one happens during the Obama Administration, it will be a vindication that Cheney's methods worked. I don't agree with that, but I think most Americans will look at it that way, if that comes to pass. Let's just cross our fingers and hope that none of the cockroaches get past our Homeland Security forces.

I think Obama has to do more than cross his fingers. He needs to make sure that Americans understand Cheney's MO and intent. He also needs to point out that he is continuing the policies that governed the Bush administration for the last 4 years of its tenture.....which also kept the nation safe. If he does not do that effectively, we run the risk of slipping back into the paranoia and fear that ruled this country during the Cold War.
