California is the poster child for dysfunctional. Financially, politically, emotionally. Are there any adults there?

Not really. At least not in S. CA.

Is there any sense of community at all?

No. The whites who are now a minority want very little to do with the other minorities. And the other minorities pretty much hate the whites.

If you could have seen the looks that blacks and Latinos gave me when the riots broke out in the early 90s. I was driving to work. Rioting had broken out the day before in South Central. My office was in Miracle Mile which is roughly 5-8 miles distant from the rioting. Every time I stopped for a light where Latinos or blacks were crossing the street, I got dirty looks. Eventually, the rioters made their way up to Miracle Mile and Beverly Hills....they were bound and determined to bring the rioting to the front door of Whiteville.

If you look at a map of LA, anything within 5 miles of the ocean is primarily white. The rest of the population is mostly a mixture that becomes decidedly darker the further you get away from the ocean. There are 10 million people alone in LA County. There are 16 million in the metro area....nearly half the state. We're talking a lot of people.

I think LA is becoming increasingly like a Brazilian or Mexican city where the rich live behind gated communities.

They deserve what they get but they could drag us all down with them; the tail wagging the dog.

You have no idea how much I am worried by what is happening in CA.
