That was funny, but this isn't..Waiting for a friend for lunch, bought the ST for something to read...(nothing else to read with me)
On the editorial page, there is a column called The Next Logical Step.
Without typing the whole gastly article here's the gest of it.... "Public attitudes toward gay and lesbian domestic partners grow more accepting every day. A logical next step is a proposed law providing domestic-partner benefits for federal employees....."
Then more blather, and then this:
(Two so called Repubs,-- Ros-Lehtinen of FL and Collins of Maine-- have proposed a bill that would, and I quote:)
Provide federal health insurance and enhanced dental and vision benefits, (and) retirement and disability benefits, and family, medical, and emergency leave. In other words, benefits married couples enjoy....
I don't know how many people in private industry get all these benefits, and can nearly guarantee that all of the packages aren't paid for by the employer. If they are, then the company is having some serious financial issues.
Small businesses can't afford to pay for all of this for their employers nor for themselves, if they want to stay in business.
The Government Employees, on the other hand, just take all these benefits as their due. It is NO WONDER that the TAYPAYERS all over the country are groaning at the new bills and new laws, and new proposals, and new regulations, and new executive orders.
As for the gays and lesbians, are they saying that they are ALL going to work for the government?
Paid Benefits is what all the scraping has been about for years. |
