I took shop class in grade school two years, and I still remember and use virtually everything that I learned there.

I can't say the same about any other class that I took in seventeen years of education.

Ditto. Agree 100%. I read the essay in the New Atlantis, planning to get the book. The guy seems to have his head screwed on right.

Also, he does a good job pointing out problems with stultification of "knowledge workers". Study the modus operandi by an expert, program it - and mechanize.
