ElM, it's natural for language to drift with separation over hundreds and thousands of years. It's not a plot to separate people.

Meanwhile, you can find posts from me to jfred advocating the same idea for NZ: <For years I told friends to sell their 400K home and buy 10 equivalent 40K homes in Brazil and retire. > That opportunity lasted for years = Sell a podunk place in California, convert to NZ$ at 40c or thereabouts [back in Y2K], buy 3 NZ houses and maybe 6 with some debt. Wait until a couple of years ago, then sell the NZ houses, buy US$ at 80c per NZ$. Wait for US houses to come to crunch time and buy a bunch of them.
