Someone just made the comment to me that the USA is in the late stages of an empire falling apart. In these late stages, everyone and everything becomes so dysfunctional that it is impossible to implement effective solutions no matter how obvious for the important problems. And that for this reason, there is no hope that that the USA will avail itself of this great opportunity to head towards energy independence with NG (along with other sources of course).

But I can't buy that. One thing that gave me hope is that there was bipartisan support for a law to end the 2O minute evictions. I know that subject is OT but I think it illustrates an important point. It was so obviously the right thing to do that an overwhelming majority of both parties could unite around it and quickly.

If we just bring enough education to bear on this subject and if we educate our congressmen, I am optimistic that effective and common sense energy policies can be carried out.

I am way less optimistic about many other problems.

I do think that passing the rest of our lives pointing fingers at each other is not useful. We just need to learn to work together on these huge problems we have. And energy should be the first and best place to start IMO.
