"You ignored many years of partisan gridlock between a GOP Congress and President Clinton, which resulted in reduced growth in spending."
You give too much credit to the Rs in Congress who were more or less the same people in charge in '01, '02, 03, , 04, 05, 06, with an R pres who caused it all to go to hell, and ignore Clinton's job creation.
If I remember correctly, Raygun ran on Carter's deficit, among other things, and then quadrupled it. The Lip Reading Bush doubled that, but to be fair, he only had one term to work on it. Clinton totally turned it around, left with a surplus. Shrub picked up the Popster's fallen baton, doubling down again, but, to be fair, he only did it by carrying the war off budget, or he may have quadrupled it, too. By some coincidence, Clinton created as many jobs in 8 years as the R's did in 20. |
