"In China you can't stop the creation of 50,000 jobs because you want to save the "spotted owl"." China has probably killed the creation of ten times that many jobs trying to save the panda. They aren't as big a bunch of heartless, greedy capitalists as you assume. I'm sure they're willing to let all the non-cute animals die though.
