Michael, > If US, SK and Japan push too hard in eyes of NK, what will they do? I am thinking they can march to Seoul or at minimum bomb and shell the hell out of that city. Ultimately they will be beaten back with enormous casualties on their side but high civilian death count both sides. US 30K troops at great risk. Is that about right or do you have another take.

North Korea can do that, but that would be suicide. American casualties will be at a minimum. There's no way North Korea can mobilize artillery or even ballistic missiles without South Korea and America getting ready in time. North Korea can cause some damage, but probably a lot less than what many people think including those in the press.

Like in Iraq, the actual war will be the easy part. The cleanup afterwards, however, will be the tough part. At least you won't like ethnic apartheid between North and South Koreans like you do between Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds.
