Presumably not during Sotomayer's confirmation hearings.

It doesn't matter that Sotomayer is confirmed. Ginsburg was confirmed, wasn't she?

The point is to stand up for principle at every opportunity. A principled opposition to Sotomayer could have a bearing on later appointees. Even if it didn't, I would hardly advocate not opposing simply because Obama might laugh in private.

I figure he laughs in private every day. He's a caricature of a President. But he needs to be opposed at every turn.
