3. Same here. total portfolio +38% YTD, after -50% last year. I think that I would have been up more this year if I did not move 2/3 to the safety of pref shares. But no regrets.

4. And a friend of mine with an entirely different portfolio (gold and other miners, and some energy) is 39% after -51%.

5. Makes you wonder what the NYSE at +4.3% YTD, and -41% for 2008 is all about.
