Terry, My guess is that it's a healthy phenomena requiring LG and other multinationals to reconsider present overseas expansion plans and time tables. Growth for growth sake will be less important than the targeting of specific high profit sectors in specific geographical areas.

LGE has targeted Wales to invest $600 million in a video/TV display factory and hundreds of millions for new plants in India and China as well as Mexico. Some of these projects could be delayed or even dropped within the new market realities.

Set-top boxes could be the hottest CE product ever witnessed and LGE well knows it. Not the $299 variety but laden featured boxes providing for Video on Demand. See techstocks.com

This could be what Zenith/LGE is working on right now with Acorn. I see companies like CAWS and other MMDS suppliers offering similar services in the US as early as 1998.

Cable modems and digial TVs will also be high profit sectors where LGE can team up with ZE for manufacturing and distribution.

In summary, the fundamentals remain outstanding for Zenith and LGE regardless of short-term market corrections.
