Continuing investigation of Windows 7...
I wanted to get an understanding of the differences among Windows 7, Vista, and Windows XP. I investigated Control Panel. Assuming somewhat similar function to like named selections, I can focus my attention to the obvious differences first.
I'm using Virtual Machines on Windows 7, with Virtual XP and Virtual Vista systems from Microsoft. I created my own Windows 98.
14 Panel items with Windows 98
29 Panel items with Windows XP
35 Panel items with Windows 7
47 Panel items with Windows Vista
Of course, some items are listed because their names differ, but their function is similar. Eg: "Printers" and "Printers and Faxes" or "Network and Sharing" and "Network Connections."
As well, some differences are hidden behind the name. Eg: Bit Locker supports removable drives as well in Windows 7, but the panel name is the same.
