We could *easily* take out any of North Korea's mid-to-long-range missiles while they are sitting on their launching pads --- but then, almost certainly the North would start shelling the South, possibly aiming for US bases there as well, (and perhaps even firing some missiles for "psychological effect" in the direction of Japan). Tens of thousands likely dead in the first 24 hours....

They would play a political propaganda game in the court of world opinion --- arguing LOUDLY that the "US was the aggressor. That the US shot FIRST and started the whole conflict."

No doubt this propaganda would win them a great deal, (more then they have now), and possibly cause several nations to distance themselves from the US position... making it more difficult for us to build and sustain international support.

While I am very sure that China would NOT agree with us. (At least... never in public.)

China's one over-arching foreign policy is it's support for "non-interference" in then domestic affairs of any sovereign nation.

This has been their consistent policy for decades now.

(If we are to lure China to OUR SIDE of the table, we need to have North Korea make the first disastrous move. Paint THEM as the aggressor, not us.)
