GM cars of the 80s and 90s, when they first realized they had to make small cars too, are not exactly renowned for, well, much of anything.
You make think so, but many car collectors don't.
'85 Buick Rivieras selling for up to 48K, '86 Buick Grand Nationals (a NASCAR fav) up to 23K, '90 Cadillac Allante up to 15K, '87 Chevrolet Monte Carlo up 15K, '96 Chev Impala SS up 22k,'84 Vette 15k and above, '87 Vettes have sold for 50K. These are not just cars that are in pristine condition (restored etc.) either.
I would agree that some GM cars were poorly put together in the 80's in terms of trim, fit and paint when compared to BMW and Mercedes. But, that is no longer the case.
My last point is that those foreign cars who the car mag people raved about were very often over priced in comparison to the american car. The Corvette is the most obvious example.
Of course, those same mags today are giving it to obama for his stand and intended destruction of the american auto industry as we have known it for many years. |
