Ok.. so you don't like the subsidization of GM and the UAW..

What about "smart grid" and all that taxpayer money will be paid out to subsidize the electrical utilities, not the mention the wind, solar, and geothermal industry?

HUGE SUBSIDIES!!

The bottom line is that energy providers often receive subsidies because the overall benefit normally outweighs the costs. Some resources just are not economically viable to the private sector without some support by the gov't.

As the article mentioned, the oil industry only receives subsidies worth 1% of their total profit. That is a percentage that is HARDLY an issue in my eyes, given what many competitors are receiving.
