Dave,

OFF TOPIC

Yesterday I considered trying a different strategy, thinking to turn adversity into opportunity. Does this sound like a bonehead strategy to you or to anyone else (many of whom are much smarter than me, I'm sure, on market strategies):

I am currently holding between 15 and 20 stocks in my portfolio. A handful (call them "A" stocks) are among my favorites because they seem to have much more potential for short-to-intermediate term gain with, say, moderate degree of risk. (By the way, I am pretending for this question that AGTI does not exist. Keeps the discussion more theoretical and objective.) If one or two of those "A" stocks may have fallen a greater percentage than some of the other stocks in my portfolio ("B" stocks) over the last few trading days, I am debating whether to sell a few of "B" stocks to buy more shares of "A" stocks because they effectively offer a higher discount right now. I am oversimplifying this whole thing because the first logical question is, why did an "A" stock fall more than some of the "B"'s? Profit taking, weak knees or whatever.

Most of the analytical experts on CNBC and elsewhere are saying to "sit pat" and ride it out. I would rather look for opportunity to mitigate some of this carnage. What do you think?
