Oh, I can see it. But, I can also see it's quite a ways off. The airborn robots are much more successful, and have a much less challenging environment to deal with. Most of the folks we engage currently have no AA capability.

As far as autonomous robots go, many people, me included, are very dubious. We're a long way from building AI's with the intelligence of a decent insect, enough sense to get out of the rain, let alone one with political judgment and a moral compass.

As for that one you touted, on the episode, I could easily see some Pal kids drawing it's attention and fire while another one ran up behind and pulled it over on it's side and ripped it's ammo belt loose. OR, blasted it's optics with paint balloons, blinding it, then stealing it's machine gun. OR, just dropping big chunks of concrete on it from rooftops. Etc., etc.

"The efficiency of these units firing their weapons is 10x that of a human."

What does this mean? It pulls the trigger 10X better? The remote operator aims and triggers the weapon. Admittedly, he doesn't have to worry about return fire..

It's hardly the Terminator so far. It looked kinda geeky, clumsy and more than a little bit silly. It can move fast - on flat ground. It's remote "senses" aren't anywhere NEAR as good as a human worried about being shot - and from what I saw, this is a MAJOR vulnerability.
