Empathy should never have even been a matter for discussion!! "The right wing" didn't start the discussion of empathy, Obama did. And given mankinds otherside, of meaness and insensitity e.g. war and slavery and racism all the more reason to value empathy. All the more reason to value the rule of law and of our constitution, and to make sure the law, including the constitution is just law. You assume that once courts stray from the actual law that they will always stray in directions you like. Their empathy may be for people you don't like, their sympathy may be for causes and ideas you don't like. PS: and having compassion does not mean one is weak. That's a straw man, no one here is saying that compassion is weakness.
