They should be forced to -- by law if necessary -- not be allowed to "settle" without acknowledging guilt or misconduct!

Sorry.. that's ridiculous. It's called a settlement for a reason.. Both parties agree to terms so that the court system is not involved. It's a private agreement. You cannot legally require someone to admit guilt without due process of Law (ie: a trial).

My family is currently undergoing this turmoil ourselves due to my father's cancer (Mesothelioma). He's currently in a pretty bad way due to the inevitable hospital infections he's exposed to after 8 weeks in the ICU.

We've been waiting for the judge to set a court date since March, but he keeps finding excuses, or demanding more information, doctor's declarations.. etc, before doing so. In the 3rd week of May he told our lawyers he would set a trial date on June 2nd and that the defendants should be prepared for a 30 day window (trial by July).

Well.. even after I obtained another Doctor's declaration suggesting he might not survive more than 30 days the judge refused to consider it and set his court date 60 days out. Our lawyers NOW have to petition the court AGAIN to have that declaration entered and ask for a 30 day trial.

Almost makes me want to believe the Judge wants my father to die prior to having his case heard in court, while giving the defendants time to avoid settling the case.

So you think Aquirre's got problems.. I'd be happy to trade places with him.
