I cannot yet figure out why the Dems would oppose a African-American nominee. I guess Bush Sr. played his hands very cleverly in nominating Justice Thomas. --- I just think the 2 party system is mostly a show for the majority of the voting public, which, sad to say, is really quite ignorant and easily swayed. The CT inquisition was good theater. I happened to be on a cross country trip at the time and it was live on the radio wherever we went. What a joke...but good theater. Obama played an ace. He has suborned the Latino vote and his African American core vote block must now decide if they want to abandon the first African American president. Pretty clever.
