Nat gas is a lot cleaner than coal for electricity, since it only releases half the carbon. I wonder what the stats would be for nat gas vs. gasoline in cars.

I'm not really sure that it would be wise to trust the nat gas market. Given the excuse to start making nat gas for fuel, those guys would have no problem driving prices to $25.

Also, Europe doesn't even have enough nat gas of their own to support nat gas vehicles. I doubt that any of the German auto companies would have any incentive to make nat gas vehicles, which would have to come from Toyota or Honda.

Filling a hybrid with a little bit of gas would probably be a better alternative fuel strategy. Somehow, they need to get better fuel efficiency into SUV's, because I don't ever seeing America having that much demand for anything else.

I went to the swim club yesterday morning, and almost every space was filled with a SUV. Once the government mandated child seats and air bags, every house wife demands a SUV. I looked at some SUV's the other day, and finally decided to buy my SUV off lease. It wasn't worth buying a new one.

SUV's are really expensive. Too bad the inventory glut of SUV's has not improved pricing.
