With the exception of those soldiers in active combat zones (who receive extra pay, and also use/use up, equipment and supplies) It would not save a lot (in fact in some ways it would cost more) unless we demobilized these forces, not just pulled them out of their current location.

Not to mention that for many of these deployments "totally unnecessary" isn't very accurate.
