I think I read GM had around 1 Trillion notional CDS tied
to it. While stories claimed payouts were small due
to netting, the market repeatedly crashed into these auction.
There were 3 biggies in October - FNM/FRE, Lehman, and WAMU. The
market crashed each time, with the auction day being the
bottom. If this indeed was nothing, would not the
market just crash once and then rally?
