BlastGard International Introduces New Grenade Mitigation Receptacle (GMR 500)
Marketwire
posted: 1 HOUR 40 MINUTES AGOPrintShareText SizeAAACLEARWATER, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 06/04/09 -- BlastGard International, Inc. (OTCBB: BLGA), a leading provider of proprietary blast mitigation materials, is pleased to announce a new product for ammunition manufacturers. The Grenade Mitigating Receptacle (GMR 500) allows for the immediate disposal of a defective or problem grenade. The grenade is tossed into the insertion cone and if the grenade explodes, the fragments from the grenade(s) remain inside the GMR 500. In addition, the fireball is snuffed out in 4/5 milliseconds and blast pressure is reduced by 85% or more. The interior design forces the grenade to roll to the sides and the back of the GMR 500. The interior and the bottom of the GMR 500 is lined with BlastWrap. The GMR 500 dramatically reduces all lethal threats posed by the detonation of a defective grenade; namely, fragments, mechanical effects (shock/blast pressure) and thermal effects (contact and radiation burn) from the fireball, afterburn and resultant post-blast fires.
James Gordon, CEO of BlastGard, said, "We are really excited to be introducing this product. A grenade is essentially a small bomb. Our new design manages the frags, substantially mitigates the blast pressure and blast thermal output. The novel concept of our design is that our 'diverter base' will roll the M67 off center to avoid frags going straight up the center tube; our 'diverter top' will stop the frags from any untouched direct path out of the can by ricocheting off of the can wall or the funnel wall into the vent path; and our side venting funnel will force glancing frags downward while still offering effective venting for blast pressure release."
