I don't oppose renewable energy subsidies. I just want us to be reasonable about them.

The PROMISE you've made repeatedly that solar will be competitive with coal in 5 years if we just shovel enough money to it is not reasonable.

Even the promise you've made that renewable energy will become competitive if we shovel enough money at the companies in the industry is not reasonable. The subsidies we provide may never pay off. Thats the way R&D is. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't. Suppose we spent an additional trillion dollars on cancer research. We might end up with a cure for cancer or we might end up with nothing for our effort.

The claim you've made that Republicans will end end renewable energy subsidies is false. We had such subsidies back when Bush had a Republican Congress.
