Jim Marcelli got back to me yesterday regarding the patent rejection. He assured me that a "final rejection" is not uncommon in prosecuting a patent, and that they will be pursuing a request for "continued examination". The important thing is that these claims remain "free of prior art" and thus they will continue to move forward with the process.
