I don't have a lot of faith in American ingenuity and industry these days. GM had decades to straighten itself out and didn't. Ford seems to have done it but only barely. If wasn't for the fact that the current Ford has good genes, F would be right there with GM and Chrysler. And its not just the car companies.......the rust belt is rusting not just because GM and Chryler are in trouble.

I would rather be positive than cynical. Survival has a tendency to focus attention. If it doesn't work we all suffer. If it does, great.

Every job we ship overseas because we're too stupid to know our own market decreases the wealth of all of us. GM seems to know the Chinese market better than the US market. Maybe they will learn.

We'll see; I'm just glad they have a second chance.
