Which airlines became government owned? Which airline bankruptcies has the government intervened in? In the case of GM and Chrysler, the federal govt isn't just loaning money, it owns a majority stake.

We should probably remember that when Congress loaned money to the airlines, it was 2 weeks after 9/11, which did a lot of economic damage to that industry. That would make that an emergency response to an unusual situation.

There certainly h/b other bailouts of other companies in the past, Chrysler, for instance. In general, most of those would fall in the category of mistakes best not repeated.
