When we are able to see today what students of yesterday were able to learn and accomplish during their lifetime, by mostly being "home schooled" in today's lingo, it is truly amazing....
An example of this is a book written from the memoires of a man who lived from 1792-1867...It is digitized now on line, and for years, I thought it to be a dry piece of work, and certainly very religious.
But I've had occasion now to do much research on this man, and realize that if he could do what he did, then our very spoiled children who don't pay attention in school today, and require extra help at great expense, deserve what they bring on themselves. His story and the times in which the book was written are remarkable. His most famous accomplishment was to translate the Hebrew, Latin and Greek Bible in both the Old and New Testaments into Turko-Armenian. This was done totally by hand. He didn't believe in "craming" his belief system into the minds of the Turkish people, but rather opened schools, particularly for girls, and let the people come to him to see how he and his wife lived their lives.
Rev. Dr. William Goodell's story is: "Forty Years in the Turkish Empire"
