When does Greenspan speak next ? Wed ? Has he said anything as yet ? 10 years ago the Fed asked all the banks to stay open late into the night in order to make Fed Funds available to the brokerage houses. Liquidity was the main issue at the time in order to prevent total failure of the brokerage community. The Fed lent to banks and the banks lent to Brokerage houses. The bank wire rooms stayed open till 2 or 3 in the morning. No such action ocurred last night with the wire transfer systems closing as normal. Given onmly a 7% decline yesterday and an up Dow at the moment it doesn't seem like the widespread panic is there.....of course I could eat these words later in the day Q ......Woof Woof... Herb
