If you can't win attract enough people to join, then eventually you can't continue to afford the "golf courses, getaways. politics etc etc...", at least not to the same extent. That wouldn't be any fun. Much better to have the government tilt everything in your favor so the money keeps flowing...

Of course it only works if your in favor with the government. Its not likely that the government is going to arrange things so that we get such benefits. (Not that it should, but if its got to give them to someone, why not me? <g>)
