According to me earlier in the week and Tom Friedman today, obama beat hizb and iran in lebanon and i would add has a real chance of defeating ahamdadijad on friday.

Right. According to two liberals.

If Ahmedinijad loses on Friday, Iran's policy toward America will not budge one iota. It literally makes no difference. More importantly, Iran's policy toward Israel (who is REALLY at risk) won't change.

I don't know whether yours and Friedman's attribution of those outcomes to Obama is a result of (a) your having voted for him and desire to give him credit for ANYTHING YOU CAN, or (b) whether you're just being naive.

I respect Friedman's POV on issues in the Mideast, but he has been right about some things and wrong about others.

For example, the other liberals on this thread will tell you that Friedman was dead wrong for supporting the War in Iraq (one of the few things I happen to have agreed with on). Of course, Friedman now HIDES the fact that he was a huge supporter of the Iraq War, since it is now unpopular (no courage of his convictions).
