It is a good idea.

An even more important benefit is that real time telemetry might be available for analysis as events unfold, potentially leading to corrective action during the flight and avoiding the crash in the first place.

There have been numerous instances where erratic aircraft behavior began and the crew had a significant amount of time to take corrective action, but could not comprehend what was causing the problem; had they known, for example, that certain control surfaces were malfunctioning, they could have taken corrective action, but instead ended up exacerbating the problem.

Then, there was the case of a crash in Little Rock where the pilot was heard to say, "I can't see the runway. Where is it?" Had someone heard that in real time perhaps they could have said, "Hey if you can't see the runway you think might ought to go around once?" Duh.
