That's certainly what the completely reactive Bush administration would do, and his base would cheer. But, the effect in Iran would be to make the mullahs stronger, and make it harder for the moderates to get support.

Exactly. What the ayatollah has done has weakened him, not helped him. The people now know they were scammed.......and when educated people know that in an economy that's falling apart, the sh*t hits the fan.
