About rumours of HP buying NOVL ... couldn't be true, because the
company is 'not for sale'! I'm pretty sure that there's no 'big deal' involving Novell, yet.

If any company could really benefit from buying Novell, it is Intel.

But, I think their attention is on Digital and MSFT for now.

Novell Management still has a few quarters to prove that they deserve
to keep the company independant ... the buyout rumours will be more believable sometime around 3Q98 unless the price is considerably higher by then ... it's finally time that I think Novell has to produce some really good results ... or the Management will lose control of the company assets in some way or another, I suspect that the BOD will finally act to preserve what ever is left of 'shareholder value' if the new management can't show that they are capable of increasing shareholder value in the next few months.

So ... probably creep up in price at cautious pace until some good results start to show up in the quarterly reports (maybe 1Q98?)
