Elegance can be achieved only through simplicity, you get it not by adding detail but by subtracting everything unnecessary to the purpose ... my favourite way to travel is with a small pack, never more than twenty pounds and small enough to fit overhead in aircraft, a good pair of sneakers, and a couple of sturdy debit/credit cards ... cheapo air-only tickets to wherever, then roam around on local transportation and stay in places that an average inhabitant of that country could afford ... cheap effective and simple, no big overhead to pay off later, no strict schedule to keep, able to change plans at a moment's whim, for any or no reason whatsoever ... add anything unnecessary to this, like for instance the large RV concept to which my wife is partial, and you lose the elegance, the true freedom
Translate this to resources, and it's drillbit plays/developers vs. producers and producer wannabes ... got to be very careful with the inelegant, they're pressure situations with high leverage that can go against you in a flash, many shades of risk any one of which can bring the whole thing down ... while with the simple drillbit play, or a cost-effective developer, you might see a certain freedom from healthy bids for your shares for a while, but the company will survive just fine and be there for the next wave of interest in its project ... so you buy well, take a little profit when it appears, rinse lather repeat, enjoy the elegance |
