If you see a real cork you know that the guy that made the wine has some pride in his work.

The twist off tops and synthetic cork guys are just out to make a buck.

A real cork doesn't guarantee a good tasting wine but the lack of a real cork almost guarantees a poor tasting wine.

Based of course on my own subjective experience.
