The State is 9 Billion short here in IL. I don't see how are getting out of the hole. CAT is moving another 2000 jobs out. Yet, there is a recovery. I cannot buy it. The higher gasoline is a tax. People will have to cut back again. I have to remain 80% cash. I just don't see oil staying in the $70 range. There certainly is no shortage. FEDEx earnings hsow the shipping is down. People were cheering that th e housing was up 17% from last month but ignored the 45% from a year ago. Commercial real estate bubble is popping.

So many of my friends have kids out of college working jobs way below thier skill level. We hired an English major as an admin. She said she just could not find a job. This is so simialar to 1980-82 when there were no jobs.

I the 1930's they did a similar stimulus bill and then decided that spending money on jobs where material costs was not good. They pushed the WPA as a mean to stop the rising unemployment.

In November, when unemployment was 5%, they said it was horrible but the cap was 8%. Now we are at 9.4%. The u-16 is 16% or so. So many people ran out of benefits. Another friend is furloughed at her job a day a week. A 20% cut with out unemployment.

My CAT friend said companies are not buying equipment because they feel that the stimulus is one shot and then the real hard times start. They are trying to pinch every penny to last through the next round of pain.
