Thats the OBAMA approach as well. Again back to Joe Klein, he also said most iranians do have grievances with the US that go back to 1953 and the subsequent Shah despotic rule. Whether liberal or conservative, secular or religious, they all feel US owes them an apology for that. They may love our people but our govt is suspect at least unti now. A more noisy approach in Iran by US might hurt the very people we are trying to help by evoking fears of american "imperialism". Also at best this election was close like bush v gore so at least half the folks are rooting for the other guy---if not half certainly close to it. The iranians will have to sort it out and the overriding point klein makes is that this is less between ahmadijad and reform challenger and more between current head ayo and new hopefully more modern and open ones. This could be more like the time china moved from mao to chou en lai and Teng and if that happens that would be great. Even if they continued with nukes under new regime at least the israeli fear of insane regime largely removed and hopefully would prevent an overreaction that would galvanize iran and cause a regional war.
