"It is a good point. If effect, they were crying out for help and the president of the US effectively said, "Sorry, you're on your own"." They aren't crying for help. At least not in the sense you seem to think they are. They are swaying world opinion, not just the US. And for Obama to say anything but what he has is to invite a Tianamen Square II. Which the mullahs are looking for an excuse to do now. Why is this so hard for them to get? The Iranians are smart people. They know if the US intercedes it will make things worse, not better. And why do we refuse to let people follow their own manifest destiny? Developing a democracy is not an easy process but rather an organic one that takes a lot of trial and error before it works at all.
