I guess we will have to agree to disagree about how "easy" it would be to mine at that depth, in this area. Google it and have a look. It is tough terrain. Note that even the drilling is difficult (Ventana abandoned close to 10% of its drill holes).

"Makes as much money per ounce" is a red herring. What counts is "can you mine profitably" and it sure costs a great deal more money to get a ton of ore to surface from underground than it does to dig that same ton out of an open pit. Note as well that so far, Ventana'a La Mascota is narrow, fairly deep and trending deeper. And what about the nearby streams?
