I would suggest that a more in depth study is required. The fact is that while Medicare does work well for those enrolled in the system, it is bankrupting us. As best I can discern, and given the poor coverage of the media, it is difficult to figure what is happening, while Medicare gets points for payment of claims and less administrative overhead, this may be due to the fact that claims are paid with little review and this results in widespread fraud in the system. Insurers also claim that they are forced to pick up the costs for the reduced fees Medicare pays to providers. It seems like the current choices are government plans which will likely bankrupt us and private insurance which is often unsatisfactory.

If this problem were easy to solve, I am sure we would have done so, by now.
