If he got hit hard enough he could float out to sea before he sank. That way there could be found some creepy things that will eat him.

BTW I knew two guys in 1971 who were camped at Ventana Trail in Big Sur. They left to get some eats, but got reds instead. Their van went over the edge. They both lived because they were too stupid to die. One had a broken neck and was wearing a brace for over a year.
