All- Interesting note about Zip and "standards."

My fiancee is a cartoonist. She does a monthly four panel strip for a financial magazine. I won't mention the name of the magazine. Anyway, as she recently became computerized (a beautiful Power Computing mac clone) and has begun doing some of her work on the computer, she asked the Art Director of this magazine what formats they can handle for electronically submitted work.

He faxed her a sheet which spelled out file formats for Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. The sheet also said they could accept work on Syquest 44, 88 and 200 MB cartridges, as well as Iomega Zips.

What's interesting about this is that the Syquest 44 and 88 and 200 MB drives used to be the standard in art departments everywhere. So naturally, these drives are still being used. But the newer Syquest formats aren't on the list. The Zip is the new standard in the graphic arts world. And of course, the LS-120 isn't even on the horizon.

My fiancee is currently debating whether to get an internal or external Zip.
