There are no clean hands in any faction of Colombia, the history is all violence and civil war going way back, centuries before this 'marxist rebellion', there have been many labels on the expressed ideologies but they are all veneer for murderous banditry, and that includes the 'free enterprise' party currently in power, look deeper and you'll find krony kapitalism with blood-drenched capital Ks

Ecuador exists as a separate country because they wanted to get away from that, used to be part of Gran Colombia, managed to peel off and be pretty peaceful by LatAm standards ... i've met individuals from both countries, never met one from Colombia i liked or trusted, never met one from Ecuador i didn't like, so that's as anecdotal and subjective as you can get, still it's what i have to go on

On top of that, it's the area within any country that matters as much and often more than the overall national policies, and Dynasty is very much welcomed by its neighbours, who have retained a mining tradition going back millennia, they're quite comfortable with gouging out huge wounds in Mother Earth [not all native groups are, it can be against their religion], they want the jobs, they've chosen dmm as much as dmm has chosen them and the area ... my only third-party info on this situation comes from a few months ago now, but i can't imagine it changing radically in this time, and the source was disinterested, had nothing financial to gain or lose either way, felt like the ring of truth to me anyway ... this is the first and maybe most important thing in LatAm, probably everywhere - a good relationship with your immediate neighbours is crucial

What was the name of that canuck-listed outfit that had a claim called Junín? ... absolute dickheads, hired goons to rough up the locals, may or may not have contracted out murders and paid off what passed for local police ... can't recall name or ticker, but they were in Ecuador, went titters and deserved it, gave canuck miners a bad name ... it might be useful for us to maintain a scaffold down there on Bay Street, where we can string up a few of such idiots from time to time, pour encourager les autres
