No, not a UNIX person. I like to use DOS, though (not invented by MS - go figure). As for hardware devices bringing down the OS, I've never seen it happen. I've seen NT crash because it couldn't handle the insertion or removal of a hardware device. The worst crash I have seen was not related to a hardware change, and was not recoverable. The more I tried to fix the problem, the worse it got (and I had a real NT guru try to help me). I had to reinstall NT. I must say that NT is more stable (although ridiculously slow), but I had no idea what torture I would go through trying to get it to work with my EPROM programmer, Jaz drive, Zip drive, scanner, and and Wacom graphic tablet.
